Face the fears and dare to dream

When Per Langer, the CEO of Polar Energy started his presentation with a vivid graphic illustrating of the CO2 emissions, the friends of Aurora Infrastructure listened in silence. Reflecting the presentation, we cannot but face the facts: The emissions are growing at alarming rate and the temperatures are rising. The future of our planet is at stake.

At this time of the year, November darkness does its best to push our mood down. While the sunny summer days are a distant memory, we need to remind ourselves that in less than 2 hours the Earth receives the amount of energy we consume annually. Indeed, solar and wind are keys to chasing our dreams about sustainable future. Moving from dreaming to doing is what we are good at.

Control your peak

Cutting CO2 emissions is about stopping burning fossil fuels. But we cannot build the future energy system on renewables alone. We need flexibility to power days when the sun does not shine and the wind does not blow. In other words, we need to modernize our energy system and change our assumptions of what competitive looks like. In addition to production, this calls for understanding how the energy consumption will evolve.

Traditional thinking focuses on base load for dimensioning the energy system. To control the investments and ensure competitive ness we need to look at things differently and balance the system with demand flexibility. This is where we need industrial actors and their partners to look for ways to redesign their processes to control the peak. The competitiveness lies in collaboration between energy producers and energy consumers – industrial and private alike.

Power and flexibility

The modern energy system is about combining renewables with flexibility assets like batteries and sector coupling to ensure security of supply. It is also about handling seasonality with demand flexibility and about managing the volatility with intelligent operating and optimization systems. This is where Aurora Infrastructure’s power and flexibility as a service can help.

We are experts in electrification of industrial processes with track record with customers like Neste, Outokumpu and Nokia. We are the go-to-partner for redesigning industrial processes and financing the needed investments in technology, integration and intelligent operations. We humbly note that industrial green transition is a task that none of us can do alone. We work proudly side by side with industry forerunners to find opportunities to electrify industrial processes to ensure competitiveness and to cut emissions before it is too late.

We believe that by working together, fears can be turned into dreams, and dreams into innovative solutions. Got interested? Let’s talk!
