Green Hydrogen: From hype to action
Tampere Hydrogen Summit and Expo was a great event. The organizing team had done excellent job in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The exhibition and presentation areas were nicely integrated. Hence it was easy to navigate between different spaces, see and hear presentations and have meaningful conversations during the breaks. While the hydrogen hype has declined in the past years, it was great to note that the tone of voice is still positive. According to the Hydrogen Cluster’s Roadmap that was launched in the event, Finland is still committed to produce 10% of Europe’s green hydrogen.
Focus on P2X in general and SAF in particular
The Finnish Industries database shows a strong pipeline of green hydrogen value chains with e-Methane, e-Methanol or sustainable aviation fuel SAF as an end product. While there are off-take related uncertainties due to more expensive price, the outlook remains positive. The aviation sector regulation is driving the need for SAF, and the investment decisions are needed soonest to get factories up and running to meet the rising demand. As stated, the hydrogen industry stakeholders remain optimistic. There is strong commitment to collaboration between different actors. Aurora Infrastructure included.
