Together towards the green transition

Last week, we hosted Aurora Infrastructure’s first-ever Green Transition Afterwork event, bringing together energy industry leaders, partners, and visionaries to discuss electrification opportunities at the heart of Finland’s sustainable transformation. The atmosphere was inspiring, filled with lively discussions, fresh insights, and the joy of reconnecting with old colleagues and meeting new collaborators.

Expert insights on green transition highlighted collaboration and practical solutions

Ulla Heinonen from the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK) provided an insightful overview of the significance of green transition investments for Finland and the steps needed to achieve sustainability goals. She emphasized the necessity of a balanced approach, integrating the economy, environment, and well-being, with Finland planning an impressive €270 billion in green transition investments by 2030. Heinonen also discussed key challenges, including regulatory issues, permitting delays, and energy supply constraints, and proposed two solutions: strengthening Finland’s attractiveness as an investment destination and developing a national model to stay competitive in the global race for green investments.

Jori Sahlsten from Neste shared the transformative journey of Neste’s Porvoo refinery as it transitions towards renewable energy and green solutions. He underscored the critical role of electrification in emission reductions and highlighted the ongoing need for infrastructure development in Kilpilahti to ensure reliable energy supply now and in the future.

Robin Lindahl, CEO of Aurora, outlined Aurora’s vision to become a key Nordic player driving the industrial green transition. He showcased Aurora’s commitment to delivering measurable economic and environmental value to its clients. By now, Aurora has invested €500 million in developing its clients’ electricity networks, with a goal to double this by 2030. Aurora supplies 5 TWh of electricity annually, which accounts for 14% of Finland’s industrial electricity consumption, all while maintaining a 99.9999% availability rate to support clients in meeting their ESG targets.

Three key takeaways from the event

⚡ Accelerating Electrification: Industrial electrification emerged as a top priority for advancing the green transition. Scaling renewable energy solutions requires strategic partnerships and deliberate investment.

🌱 Sustainable Innovation in Practice: Leaders are applying cutting-edge technologies and innovative methods to reduce emissions. Real-world examples illustrated how sustainability can drive both profitability and growth.

🤝 The Power of Collaboration: Cross-sector collaboration is crucial. Achieving successful green investments demands joint efforts from technology providers, industry leaders, and policymakers alike.

This event underscored the importance of uniting experts, partners, and visionaries to pursue a shared goal—the realization of the green transition. At Aurora, we are committed to driving the Nordic green transition and look forward to creating impactful partnerships with both existing and future customers and collaborators!
